What is Zoom™ tooth-whitening?
Zoom™ tooth-whitening is a method of in-surgery tooth-whitening using a bleaching agent and the Zoom™ lamp to whiten the teeth.
Is the whitening procedure safe?
The laser teeth whitening procedure is totally safe when carried out by a trained dentist. It does not weaken or damage enamel in any way.
The only side effect can be some short-term sensitivity of the teeth or whitening of the gums. Both of these are transient.
How many times can I have my teeth whitened?
You can have your teeth whitened up to six times a year.
Will teeth whitening make my crowns, veneers or fillings whiter?
No, tooth whitening works only on your natural teeth and it won’t affect your crowns, veneers, fillings or any other dental work.
Can I whiten my teeth if I have gum problems?
Yes, but your gum problems should be treated before the whitening procedure. We treat all range of gum problems at the Wimpole Street Dental Clinic
and can refer you to a specialist if necessary.
What is the minimum age for this treatment?
The minimum recommended age for this treatment is 16 years old.
How long does the whitening last?
Laser whitening can last from 6 months to 2 years depending on the colour of your teeth, lifestyle habits and if you follow up with dental
hygiene or home whitening.
It is recommended to avoid pigmented foods for 48 hours following the whitening procedure.
Following up with home-whitening can help to increase the effects and can be used for top-up.
3 or 6 monthly dental cleaning will help get rid of stains
The main causes of stain on the teeth are: smoking, coffee, tea, red wine and pigmented foods.
Are there any health precautions?
Tooth whitening is not recommended while pregnant or breastfeeding. It is also not recommended for people who suffer from epilepsy.
